Lucas Chancel is an economist, specialized in inequality and in environmental policy. His work focuses on the measurement of economic inequality, its interactions with sustainable development and on the implementation of social and ecological policies. 

Lucas is Co-Director of the World Inequality Lab and of WID.world at the Paris Scool of Economics (PSE). He is also a an associate researcher at PSE and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations. He teaches economics and public policy at Sciences Po.

The World Inequality Report 2018, written and coordinated with Facundo Alvaredo, Thomas Piketty, Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman, provides the first assessment of globalization since 1980 in terms of economic inequality. The report is accessible online and is available in bookstores in several languages.

Currently available in French, it will be translated in English in 2018-19. This book draws on several years of research and explores the interactions between social and environmental inequalities. It also discusses several concrete policy proposals to transform the social State.
